It is no surprise that the law of sowing and reaping applies to the area of music ministry in the church as well. I have seen countless situations where a musician is giving service to a ministry and shows a level of commitment at first only to seem to shift mid stream. At first glance many conclude that this is probably just another case of the temperamental character of most church musicians. Although this can sometimes be true of most, after careful examination you might just find that there are other dynamics at play here. While many musicians have fallen to the temptation of holding out for the highest bidder, thereby pimping the gift, other set-apart consecrated minstrels have been victims of abuse by those they serve. Now how, you might say, can that be? Why would I use such terminology in describing such a situation. Well I intend to share with you my reasoning. It is based on the fact that these peculiar musicians normally bring an attitude of total servant-hood as a relates to God and the local ministry. They bring their hearts and souls to the table. Their only true purpose is to get into the flow of the particular ministry they are serving and desire to be instrumental in its growth. These musicians bring 100% to the table and have a willingness to learn more than the presently know in order to better serve. Apparent on their lives is the hand of God and a special anointing not given to all. This anointing, which allows the musician to operate in a way that supernaturally transcends the mere gift he or she uses, is often the object of great criticism and envy. This type of anointing gives the minstrel the ability to minster in a way that seems to be effortless and easy enough for anyone the duplicate. There in lies the mistake that most onlookers make. The brother or sister that is observing the minstrel decides that they want the same anointing they now witness upon the minstrel. They do not try and seek the Lord for this endowment, but rather in themselves seek to intellectualize what they see, bringing it all down to a carnal level. They are deceived in this, and as they seek to undermine the work wrought through the minstrels lives by the Holy spirit, they begin to initiate the law of sowing and reaping…….to be cont’d
